Remko Steen — Mapledell Road, Norwich, Ontario

We're a family farm on Mapledell Road in Norwich, Ontario. We raise Wagyu cattle here and sell the beef direct.

I started with a small handful of animals and a simple idea: I wanted to know exactly where my family's beef came from. Once we tasted what a well-raised Wagyu could be, we knew we wanted to share it with the neighbours.

Everything on this farm is done by hand and by us. We know each cow. We watch them grow up on pasture. We move them ourselves and handle them calmly, because stressed animals don't produce good beef and it isn't the kind of farming we want to do.

Our cattle are grass-fed and corn-finished, and we carry them 32 to 36 months. Commodity beef goes to harvest at 18 to 22. That extra year is the whole difference, and it is the part nobody wants to pay for. Everything is raised antibiotic and hormone free.

Butchering is done at Norwich Packers, a provincially inspected facility a few minutes down the road. It comes back to us cut and vacuum-sealed, and we hand it to you ourselves. No commodity feedlot in the middle, no wondering where it came from.

Come see where your beef comes from.

Pickup and in-person shopping are by appointment only. Get in touch to book a time so we can make sure someone's home when you arrive — no drop-ins, please.
